About us

So I'm sure you're wondering, "what does MeriHari even mean?". Well, in short MeriHari is a Japanese word literally meaning: modulation;

1. the exertion of a modifying or controlling influence on something.

2. variation in the strength, tone, or pitch of one's voice.

This funny-sounding word is often used in slang in the Japanese language. Such as when a teacher says to school children before spring break: "During the break, live with proper "merihari" - meaning, do not go lax all the way sleeping and goofing off, but study when you get the chance, and play when you get the chance, give yourself good rhythm in life. With that said, we think the meaning of life can be found in discipline and true self expression. Whether it may be weightlifting, skating, martial arts, painting, writing, etc...We must avoid the natural human tendency to just lie around when we have the time and perfect our ability to express ourselves freely, physically, mentally, and spiritually.

Us here at MeriHari truly believe one has the power to change or alter their direction in life starting by simply changing the tone of their voice and finding true self expression. So the message that we would like to give is to take heed of the word, "MeriHari" literally and figuratively, and above all to be kind to oneself and others.
